Two shout outs:
One, you should all know that Washington Square Park is open for business and looks fan-frikkin-tastic. If you’re a native New Yorker, then you have no excuse; if you’re a tourist, try to make time in your schedule to go to one of the more authentic places in NYC.
I actually took pictures of the park the first day they turned on the fountain again. It was the day after NYU graduation, and between that and the inclement weather, Washington Square was empty. It was hauntingly beautiful and calm, and while I doubt that comes through in my pictures, at least you’ll get some idea. I’ll put up the flickr and fb links later today.
Two, as many of you may know, WSP is a favorite haunt of many local jazz bands and musicians. The week before graduation, there was one really great one, from the bk no less: Baby Soda. If you’re a fan of oldtime New Orleans Jazz with a bit of a NY and Chicago thrown in, then give them a listen:
